 Daewoo Espero - 97 2.0 CAT failure? - Stuu
Had my new front pipe fitted tonight, got halfway home and the car started misfiring and it got that rotten eggs smell too plus a lack of power, so is that a CAT failure?

And if so, is it an issue to drive it 12 miles to the garage?

The rotten smell is the cat overheating from an engine running problem. The misfire is causing the lack of power and subsequent cat issue.Driving 12 miles may not be a good idea and possibly finish off the cat for good.hth

Front pipe? Bet they dislodged or broke the oxygen sensor.

Well the car did ten miles or so after fitted. Now it wont start and when I last tried, there was a bang from the engine...

Verdict is in. Cambelt slipped. Cause unknown as yet, but the belt is abit, but not very slack so tensioner is first suspect followed by whatever it was which was making bearing noise when cold seizing up and jamming the aux belt.
Got it recovered to the garage for free though courtesy of AA ( worth every penny ).
