"Just 200 units will be produced, with a price tag insiders hint will be around £80,000."
Fair enough, Ms Beckham has been associated with the Evoque since the launch of the car, and it is no surprise that this special edition is being produced - but .... 80 grand!
I shan't be gutted it I miss out on one.

"The long-awaited Victoria Beckham-designed Range Rover Evoque ..."
Thank goodness, it's here at last!
:)
|
we need two, his and hers.
|
Seems a perfect match of vehicle and target market: Beckham is just the name to impress the kind of person who'd consider one of these. They (although not this one) look quite stylish from some angles, but I've walked past a few in the street and wondered how you're supposed to see what's alongside or behind you through those gunslit windows. (The rearward-looking interior shot in the link suggests you'll probably miss anything smaller than the Hollywood letters.) Evidently, I'm not the customer they're looking for.
|
>> how you're supposed to see what's alongside or behind you
I drove one down from Oxford and into central London before Christmas. The visibility is actually better than you'd think, and they are fitted with Jaguar's excellent blind-spot warning lights in the door mirrors. I didn't find the small windows a problem.
I've still got backache from Friday's Audi though :/
|
Her front view looks up-for-it, but I'm not over-keen on her rear, although if I woke up tomorrow to find my Lancer had been replaced with one, I wouldn't complain too loudly.
|
>> I shan't be gutted it I miss out on one.
Too true - ugly burgers in the flesh *ducks incoming flak from those who think the Evoque is unmissable*. Reminiscent of the Nissan Juke in its high posture, like an American jacked-up pickup. IMHO, of course.

for those who simply must have the right trainer, tracksuit, snow suit, phone, watch etc...its a image and label thing, it doesn't impress us but then we're not likely to be fiends of those who need labels.

"She specifically wanted the car to be masculine "
"The 20in alloys are also in gloss black and feature rose gold accents. Rose gold is also used for the grille and badge surrounds.
The luxurious interior boasts tan semi-aniline leather seats that are hand stitched. Rose gold features again for interior accents, while other trim is finished in black lacquers and veneers, textured aluminium and soft-feel black paint...
Each of the 200 units ... comes with a bespoke four-piece luggage set and a hand-sewn leather wallet for the manual
As masculine as Danny La Rue I guess.

Well.... she is married to David....

Each of the 200 units, the first of which will go to Chinese customers, comes with a bespoke four-piece luggage set and a hand-sewn leather wallet for the manual that’s signed by Beckham herself.
Beckham can write as well as pout.
Is there no end to her talents? and I thought she was just an airhead.

"The long-awaited Victoria Beckham-designed Range Rover Evoque ............ "
Where did she get her education and training to design cars?

The Range Rover Evoque and the Nissan Juke are surely the two most ugly cars presently in production?

Presumably styled on a juke box.
|
i cant really understand the Juke. is it a so called "lifestyle Car" the boot is small compared to the size of the car and the back seats are very tight.
|
A lifestyle car certainly
A juke was originally a dive selling alcohol and frequented by prostitutes.

Take your pick of these meanings. tinyurl.com/5euhmz

I don't think I'd really want to own a Juke now after reading that lot!!

The sort of place you might go for an 'escort' :)

I think you overlooked this one OG! tinyurl.com/cotdj3m

All they have omitted is the gun turret and then it will be ideal for invading touring France when Sarkozy loses...

I wouldn't buy or consider a large tough 4x4 endorsed by a stick insect, in the same way as I don't buy razor blades endorsed by a man who doesn't shave!

He was a good player she a lousy singer. That's all I want to say.>:) Smirky pout.

I once saw it said that Autotune can fix everything short of two cats fighting in a bag.
I guess that somewhere she has a couple of cats and a sack then.

...in the same way as I don't buy razor blades endorsed by a man who doesn't shave!...
My David Beckham-endorsed Gillette wet razor - Mach 3 or somesuch - has proved to be one of my better purchases.
Had it years, still on its original battery.
Blades aren't cheap, but one lasts me a fair while.
|
>> Had it years, still on its original battery.
Good heavens Iffy, does yours use a battery and sort of gnaw the stubble off like one of these modern toothbrushes or a tiny little combine harvester?
>> Blades aren't cheap, but one lasts me a fair while.
You must be as rich as Croesus. I can't even afford blades for my Mach whateveritis. I've got a pack of three disposables at the moment for a bargain price at Tesco. Still on the first one and it hasn't started to slice me up yet.
Of course I only shave every now and then like a squalid old don in the rural 'ndrangheta. Were I forty or fifty years younger I would look stylish and virile, or at least bohemian. But I don't any more. Eheu! Eheu!
The children are used to it though and seldom burst into tears at the sight of me as they should really.

Yes.

£80k has to be some kind of record (in a bad way) for a 2 litre vehicle surely? How much is a 'proper' Range Rover?
|
Quite so Peter. Who in their right mind...??

Fashion victims and badge snobs. I can't afford to be one, which suits me. :-)

To answer my own question, a Range Rover 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography 4dr Auto (no options) is £79,679.99 via Drivethedeal after discount. Additional discount available to NFU members!!
|
I've decided I quite like Jukes. Wasn't at all sure at first but you know. Young couple a few doors down have recently got a black one and I walk past it most days. It has grown on me.
If I were younger and less in need of a proper car I might have one.
|
Isn't the Juke a knobbly little thing like a small sprauncy Qashqai?
The Evoque may be quite pleasant and it looks all right. But for that kind of money something genuinely capable from Porsche, little used, will be readily available. I doubt that it will cost more to run than a proper Range Rover.
Never truly fancied the Range Rover to tell the truth, although it's capable itself and refined. I believe the first and simplest version was the best as a car, but even that had twitchy handling. Over the years I've seen a couple displaying that trait in the hands of rough heavy-footed drivers.
Offroad, V8 Defender or Unimog. On road 4wd, Porsche Panamera ugly as sin but I like that please, or a budget Subaru... But there are other contenders for almost everything which will be better than those in certain ways...

>>“I want everyone who gets into this car to feel special and empowered by its quality and craftsmanship,” she said<<
Says it all really, doesn't it. How can getting into a car make anyone feel "empowered"?

Ah, well.
You need some blue sky thinking!

Steady, Duncan. You need to get out of the box before you can see the blue sky.
