I was watching the Eddy Stobart show last night on the television.Enjoyed the show the clean trucks and the comrady between the drivers.
They seem to run on a tight schedule. Also the young lads learning and going for their test in the trucks.

As mentioned elsewhere on here, I was recently turned down for the Eddie Stobart Driver Training scheme as I was thought to be too old (ruddy nerve!). Gordonbennett then told me that I'd had a lucky escape...

They can't actually use age as a reason though, can they?

" was thought to be too old (ruddy nerve!)"
Go and see a solicitor. In any case, I also read on a lorry driver's forum about the pay and conditions and they didn't sound like my cup of tea. Unpaid enforced breaks, paltry sustenance allowances etc...

I only posted a very simplified version - I did actually receive a very nice email from Stobart's recruitment and training company saying that, as a post on a training programme is actually an apprenticeship and as such paid at £95 per week, they don't like to take 'older' people as they often have heavier financial committments. They said that it is often the case that people like myself think that thay can cope on that lower wage whilst training but a few weeks in change their mind and leave, wasting their own time and the company's.
I'm not that fussed about it really as perhaps they have a point. And, to be honest, having heard (and now read) some negative things about Stobart's I'm quite glad.

I was under the impression Stobart's was a sought after job, pray dish the dirt.
