In Costco (Edinburgh) earlier - big pile of 205/55x16 Bridgestone Blizzaks in their tyre sales area.
£47 a pop (incl VAT/fitting/balance/valve/carcass disposal)
Commonest medium-sized car tyre-size.
Costco let you buy the tyres and bring them back in when you want them fitted.

Too far for me to make a worthwhile saving.
Damn and blast...
:-)

Hmmm...wonder if they've got any at Chester, that's the size on daughter's Golf.
|
How often does it snow in Chester?
|
Fitted? You mean you keep them at home without wheels, then take them in, have them put on your one set of wheels, and take the grubby summer set home to keep in the shed till spring? I thought the idea was to keep two sets of wheels, one with each kind of rubber.
Never took much interest in this subject but having recently taken on a rear-driver for the first time, and having been impressed in February by the sure-footedness of winter-tyred taxis in snowy Frankfurt, I've started to, y'know, wonder...

The fit-them-later bit is usually for those who buy regular tyres when there's a special offer (eg. 4 for 3) - they can then bring them back in as their tyres wear to replace them, and Costco get rid of the old ones.
At £47 a corner I'd imagine a few people would just leave them on all year.

A "pop"?
A " corner"
Wasn't there a thread about that? and you got them both in. Well impressed.
|
188 quid is indeed a keen price for a "set of boots"
|
"Wasn't there a thread about that? "
I think I mentioned it one of our pedantry threads. "Each" seems such a precise and useful word it's a shame not to use it :-)
|
Mr Nothing may be thinking of the 'swear box' thread I started the other week.

= a puncture. :-)

Far worse than Edinburgh, as demonstrated by the winter tyre sale. Or is it the drivers? :-)

Pity it was not 215x60x17 - they are £162 fitted for Michelins @ Costco
|
They appear to be a good winter tyre: www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Bridgestone/Blizzak-LM22.htm
But I'd rather fit the all season jobbies down here in Sunny Cornwall:

Just got a 25% off voucher at kwikfit.
OOOOooooo There's excited I was.
Means two new tyres cheap on the back isn't it.
Read the small print look you.
Not valid with pre order on line prices.
