Garage
Your front disks are pitted and a front caliper is stuck.......................
We could replace the disks and pads and a new caliper will fix the issue.

Me
2 yrs ago, under warranty, the same thing happened and you stripped/greased and all was well on the rear wheels. Can't you do the same again?

Car picked up and added to the fixed price was
30 mins to strip, clean and grease the pistons........ £30.00

2 disks, set of pads and a caliper would have been say £400 +/- at Nissan's high spares prices

Rip off Britain is alive and well.

Bet you a virtual pint it wasn't a front piston sticking at all but the slider in need of clean and lube.

Well fielded that spinning low shot FB.

Presumably your more customer oriented indy will be getting the work of replacement discs and pads when it proves necessary, or will you DIY?

Disks, 60 quid a pair, pads 40 quid a pair, calipers 60 quid each.

thats 220 quid in parts alone, And they are not main dealers prices.

No way did you get new callipers as well at that price.

IIRC

Disks £50, Pads £35, Caliper £55, Labour £50

The Bill was £227 - I just looked up the Credit Card on-line - the breakdown of parts and labour is approx - the £227 is accurate

What model was it? Cant be two callipers, not two for 55 quid.

Prices for mazda brake parts ( chose the cheapest a 323 or a 3)

Calipers 68 quid EACH

Disks 30 quid EACH

Cheap and nasty pads 16 quid a set, good pads 35 quid

SO it must have been one calliper.

Don't forget FB's not in SE England!!

Calipers are not cheaper in Scotland, the parts costs are the same.

I wouldn't rely on that. The net has been a game changer but local supliers will have lower overheads, particulalry staff and buildings, compared to SE England.

Car parts are covered by the game changer aspect. I get parts cheaper on line than my local factor can supply

Electricals are the same, amazon has confined local pricing to the bin

Forgot to mention a BONUS from Nissan Service

A Bit late in the day as I renewed GEM Breakdown Cover last month BUT I got free legal cover with that!

Get that from MB (although the coverage is a bit limited) but also on our Honda and Mitsubishi. A valuable benefit if you don't otherwise have cover, however they don't offer it up front, you have to ask.

BTW, I'm impressed that your dealer's labour rate is only £60/hr!
