5th Gear managed it with one car,

But someone else has gone one better with two cars.

Team Hot Wheels drivers, Tanner Foust (Top Gear USA presenter, among other things) and Greg Tracy set a Guinness World Record racing two vehicles through a six-story double vertical loop at the 2012 X Games in Los Angeles! It's Hot Wheels for real!

Brilliant! - and quite amazing how they work out the ideal approach speed, I wouldn't fancy it though :)

There's no ideal, just a minimum ~ assuming that the speed around the loop is constant tinyurl.com/7cnp8h2
ω²r must be greater than gravity.

I'm hoping I've got it right. Advancing age is starting to dull my memory.

That equation explains The Rotor then, that I spent too much time on in the fairgrounds as a nipper!

Me too, I found not one but two of them at last year's Nottingham Goose Fair and dragged my daughter on them several times :) I always end up with grazed shoulderblades because of my lifelong insistence on turning upside down as the ride builds up speed.

Yes, you just need to take care in defining the radius

At least Fiestas are safe. Probably thought he was driving the 1.25 82bhp version, but it was only the 60bhp model.
