Two words: SAAB. Nissan.
Both those were bywords for quality, until they tied up with GM and the French respectively.
You cannot make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

I would have considered buying a Nissan when I get around to replacing my existing barge, as my preference would be for one built in the UK. But not now, though.

Shame, as IMO the current C5 is agood car and Citroen really managed a good product.
Can only speak from my own experience, but mine had no issues in the 3 years I had it. Think it will be a shame if the next version becomes a insignia clone.

Don't forget - between Peugeot/Citroen's plight and the plans of GM sits the French government. So anything could happen.

Good point - perhaps the next insignia could end up being built on France.......
