 Toyota Carina E - Do you have or know of any 1992 cars still in use - Falkirk Bairn
In December 1992 Toyota’s very first Carina E rolled off the production line in Burnaston, Derbyshire.

It was the first British-built Toyota and the company is seeking the oldest surviving cars still in daily use.

Contact Toyota if you know of one.

Surely the vast majority have been minicabbed to death.

I've lost count of the number of these I've been in with furry steering wheel and seat covers, rumbling wheel bearings, and dampers that haven't for many many years.

My sister-in-law has a low-mileage very early Carina E, bought for £500 quid last year with new tax, MOT and tyres. She and her bloke passed through here last week with it on their way home from a summer job in Sardinia - where part of the time it served as a taxi!

I had an N reg Carina E for about 3 years, easily the equal of the Mondeo and leagues ahead of the Cavalier/Vectra of its day. Strangely bouncy suspension, but 40+mpg from a 1.8 petrol.

I see the odd J/K reg one still lurching about Leicester, not sure the owners are likely to be aware of/interested in what they've got though.
