Skoda Fabia - Synchronising remote key fobs - bathtub tom
SIL's got a ten-year-old Fabia

She asked me to replace the battery in the key fob. She was so happy with having remote locking working again, she asked me to do the spare one.

The spare one's sat unused for years and with a new battery the LED in the fob flashes when you press a button, but it doesn't operate the car locks.

I remember reading somewhere that the message sent from fob to car changes with each operation and I guess the old, spare fob has got out of synch.

Does anyone know how to get it working again? I don't have access to a handbook.

Don't if it can really be this easy, but...............

- Press and hold lock or unlock button
- Central locking system operates to indicate correct synchronization after approx 1 Min

This is the sequence for a Golf,it may be similar.Put working key in ignition and turn on;close doors and place second key in door lock ,rotate to full lock and hold, then press one of the buttons on the remote.Worth a try.

I did, but came up with the two methods suggested here and there seemed to be some doubt over whether or not they would work.

I thought I may get a more definitive answer here.

The car's now fifty-odd miles away, but I've emailed the different methods.
