Relax. Chill. There's no rush.

At least, there won't be in East Anglia if Norfolk's "consideration" comes to pass.

Average SPECS cameras in 20mph zones.

they got what they voted for then didnt they.

Actually Norfolk county council is far from 'loony left'. Always used to be conservative but UKIP gained 15 votes at the last election making it "no overall control".

Norwich on the other hand is very much labour .

Norwich has alway been "innovative" as regards traffic management. First city in the country to build a ring road in the thirties. First city to completely pedestrianise a city street in the sixties and first city to install traffic lights on roundabouts. Because of its comparative isolation has often been used for experimenting with new ideas.

Is that right? According to those nice people at Wiki, Stevenage was the first UK city to have a pedestrianised centre in 1959 (Lost my link!).

Well, you had better get someone to tell those nice people at Wiki that they are just plain wrong!

Last time I looked 1959 came before 196? something. Boom boom.
 Slow dropping time - CGNorwich
Stevenage's pedestrianised centre was purpose built.

Quote from Wikipdedia

"The pedestrianised town centre was the first purpose built traffic-free shopping zone in Britain, and was officially opened in 1959 by the Queen."

Norwich was first to pedestrianise an existing street - London Street as the film clip shows.

Yep and it sure does look like it was made in 1959 too !

So we can blame them for giving our Loony left council the idea to traffic light a roundabout near here to Blackpool illumination standard and totally screw up the traffic flow, causing delays. Would you believe fourteen sets of lights for a five way roundabout!

They're not even trying.

Stupid bumpkins. Traffic lights on roundabouts are there to be ignored. As they should be.

20's fast enough for some of the roads in Norwich IIRC, so I don't see a problem with those being enforced, but if we are talking ring road/ dual carriageway, well there was a guy on the TV this morning from Liverpool council insisting councils don't use enforcement to generate revenue and I almost believed him

It reinforces stereotypes of East Anglia that the first thing the EDP does in that article is explain how average speed cameras work......
 Slow dropping time - madf
Norwich has to be innovative - the local inbreeding means drivers have reaction times in minutes rather than seconds.

Norfolk also admitted a couple of years ago that NONE of it's "speed cameras" were working.

Believe that if you want to. Might prove expensive though.
