 M42 Sun 13th 4.5 hour jam - zuave
Afternoon,

A friend was stuck in a jam on the M42 last night for around 4.5 hours. The motorway was closed and, it seems, there was a single vehicle accident. Could find very little info at the time and same today. Anyone any ideas/links giving more details as a total carriageway closure for a single vehicle (car IIRC) seems very extreme!
Many thanks

Came down M6 toll around 20:00 yesterday without any mention of this on the overheads so presumably clear by then. The modern practice of stabilising casualties on site will cause delay before need to bring in Air Ambulance adds more. Then there's investigation.

My own experience is that closure messages are cascaded widely across the M/way network. I've seen closure of the A43 (M1-M40/A34 link) west of Northampton on the overheads in South Yorks giving people ample time to choose alternatives like A38, M42 or A45/A5 local roads to Banbury.

Same with M25 probs flagged up in Midlands leaving drivers to divert A14/A1 or A43/M40 to by pass trouble altogether.

"A crew from St John's Ambulance, who were passing the incident at the time, also provided assistance."

There's your answer - bless em :)
