Just wondering how you get into the upper car park of the Manchester Central Upper Car Park. We've used the lower one underneath Manchester Central/GMEX and once got stuck for hours after a concert at the Bridgewater Hall.

But I see the night rate of the upper car park is £5 after 6pm which is cheaper than where we normally park. Even with the discount when you get your ticket validated at the Bridgewater.

I'm wondering if you enter the lower car park area and fork off but don't want to risk that and Google Street View doesn't show anything.

I'm probably trying another NCP at £4 but if it's full this is the next cheapest. And a bit closer too.

Go down Whitworth St West from Oxford Road. Turn right into Lower Mosley Street and then first left just over the canal bridge. There's a ramp up to the upper level, which is where the trains used to run...and the tram now does instead.

Used to be Trafford Street on the A2Z and went through to Deansgate until they put the ramp in.

I thought Ted would know. I'll look on Google Street View. I know the trams are up there. So.... the turning is just before the Bauer Miller site that also offers parking.

Whether there's spaces tomorrow when I arrive is another thing. First option is Little Peter Street. Should have checked this out yesterday/today as I stayed at the Midland Hotel last night. But never thought the car park up there was NCP and cheaper than the lower level.

Bauer Miller should have been Bauer Millet.... used to pass their showroom daily 1989-1995 'term time' in Fallowfield.

Alfa agents........ used to be on Peter St. Where they are now used to be Trumpet St. Dead end leading right into the station undercroft. Used to get my MOTs there at Hewitts. They were next to Oakdale, long established Moggy Minor specialists...still going but in Whalley Range now.

Turn right at the top of the ramp..leads round to a lifting barrier to the car park at the back of GMex. Dont know if it's NCP or even if it's public.

or...

Carry straight on at the top of the ramp and there's a fairly big car park by the Metro tracks...bit further to walk back.

Or drive to Parr's Wood...park free and Metro all the way to GMEX ! Give me a wave if you do !

An option was always East Didsbury tram to St Peters. But we'd miss a bit of the footy. And the £4 or £5 car park might work out cheaper including diesel. No other costs.

The Central Upper car park is definitely NCP.

We'll find somewhere. But you've helped me work out the entry ramp to this! I've driven down there many times. Yesterday as a passenger to the Midland.
