OTOH getting up and seeming OK afterwards is not firm evidence of being uninjured, particularly to the brain. Schumaker was reportedly talking and moving OK immediately after his accident as was Natasha Richardson.

Damage becomes apparent later with bleeding/swelling.

Yep! - good point, the outcome of an accident like that could easily have been so much worse though.
