Just got my insurance renewal for the old Vitara....as usual. the scurrilous beggars are trying it on by almost doubling last years premium.

So, it's back to Compare the Meerkat.

Cheapest quote £247.00.
Dearest quote £9299.00.

Dear Agnes...What shall I do ?

Tesco 'Value' car insurance. Trust me. Saved a good few quid and I got a £25 gift card through the post a few days later. 3 boxes of Stella for £20 at the moment. Obviously, please drink responsibly and don't drive after indulging..........
Also just got the 'Value' breakdown cover!

Tesco....£526.05

HaHaHa.

Ted - any particular reason for not going with that cheapest quote you found eg. is it still too much?

Just done a meerkat quote for me

Cheapest is Liverpool Victoria, £322 dearest is Zurich at £849.

I know where I would be going when Aviva pull the old doubling of the premium trick.

Aviva did try this on me on my Citroen Picasso ( and also on a friend with a Citroen C8) in 2008 . It appeared that they did not want any Citroen business at that time.

Despite attempted negotiation they would not reduce to a reasonable amount. So I walked after about 20 years with them.

Load of shysters.
Not going with quite the cheapest, Focus.
Next up is a tenner more but gives windscreen cover.

Ted - different insurers must have different commission structures with these comparison sites - I ran my details through several. All same details, but some quotes with the same company were a few quid cheaper depending on which site I came through. From memory I think gocompare gave the best quotes.
 Insurance dilemma. - Iffy
I use gocompare.

Their quotes are a just as good as any, and I've never had any bother with junk mail, which I believe users of other comparison sites have.

 Insurance dilemma. - Zero
I never get junk mail from the comparison sites.

My friend, Mr Know Wun, gets the quotes for me. Junk mail goes to him at Know_wun@knowhere.com.

>> Junk mail goes to him at Know_wun@knowhere.com.

Or they can phone him on 0151 2345678. The company's with an uncompetitive quote will give him a call to see if they can improve the quote, keep him on the phone for 20 mins and manage to knock a whopping £20 off the quote that's 3 times the cheapest.

Before you sign on the dotted line Ted give NFU a call (won't come up on a comparison site), they plough their own furrow as it were for pricing, service is second to no one if they come anywhere near.
Screen excess 25 nicker too.
 Insurance dilemma. - jc2
NFU are excellent for cover and service but are nowhere near the cheapest.I've just changed to them after the company I had been with for years went up almost 100%! but I do want a particular type of insurance.

I don't know if Swinton's do car insurance, but I've just put my home insurance through them and renewal can't come round soon enough to go elsewhere.

I ticked all the 'don't contact me' boxes, but within a few days got a call: "you haven't taken out home breakdown insurance. What will you do if a pipe bursts in the middle of the night?"
I told them I knew exactly where to stick it.

I'm now getting unsolicited e-mails from them despite having them confirming I wouldn't!

Perhaps I should introduce them to a Nigerian banker.
 Insurance dilemma. - jc2
Swintons do do car insurance-they're a broker.I used them for many years but dropped them when I found they were sitting on my renewal quotes till the last minute so I had little or no opportunity to compare with other sites.

It's a mad, mad , mad world. NFU were very expensive. I'm with Swinton for the bike but their quote for the Vit was over £340 TPFT.
Sureterm are best now, already got the Classic with them at £78 comp.
Did the Vit TPFT for £191. I've done the deed.
They say, being Classic and 4 X 4 specialist, that they won't rack up the cost on renewal........we'll see.

Seconded on unsolicited calls from Swinton. They did however at least use a recognisable number and desist when (forcibly) reminded that we'd asked for no contact.

Me too, I was passed through Swintons from Tesco Compare and I'll make sure I never go to them again.
