But surely any oil/grease/AN Other can still be transferred from the surface of the gloves to discs & pads.

I can't imagine that 'contamination' of either of the working surfaces lasts for more than about a second of use. I regularly finish off cleaning my motorbike wheels with a generous spray of WD40, but it's not exactly heatproof...
