Paintless Dent Repair - Dulwich Estate
A stupid, stupid driver parked right next to my car in a nearly empty car park a couple of weeks ago and ....... you guessed it ...... let go of their door and it hit and dented my car.

Fortunately I and the Mrs, where still in my car when it happened

After various levels of denial the offending driver eventually blamed the wind.

The damage comprised a round dent and I said I didn't want to go down the insurance claim route but would try a dentless repair company.

For £60 the chap from fixadent in Worthing made a beautiful job of it and I'm a happy chappy. The offending driver has paid up too.

The repair guy's technique was to poke about in the gap between the door window and frame with a choice of long L shaped levers. To guide him he had a mirror stuck on long bendy thing sucker fixed to the door.

A lovely job and I'd be happy to recommend them.

I've had a few car park dings sorted in the aforesaid manner and been impressed. Providing they can get access behind the dent, it is not too deep and the paint is not cracked jobs a gud un.

You'll now have scratches down to bare metal where he had to apply his tools. May well be worthwhile having your door card off and putting something on them to deter rust.

With all the wiring and electric window gubbins inside the average door I've always thought poking metal down inside the window channel and bashing the door skin a bit dangerous.

It wasn't so much bashed as forced. The only bashing was external when I think the dent may have been pushed out a tad too far. There was certainly a lot of skill in it as I genuinely cannot see where the dent was ... even after washing the car !

So, being faced with a dent in your door caused by an idiot parker, what do you do ?

Do nothing but grimace every time you look at the driver's door ?

Get the dent filled and a full door respray where almost certainly the colour / textures mismatch would irritate every time you looked at it ?

Sell the car ?

I took my usual preventative action by parking away from any other cars in the supermarket car park. But this moronic lemming or herd like creature had plenty of spots with clear spaces either side chose to park right next to my car and then b***** dent it.

At least the fix cost nothing except time in googling and emailing.

If you were worried about it rusting, ( not sure if I would be ) but if you were, maybe you could spray some oily substance into the door cavity somehow? Or maybe that would be a really stupid idea. Wouldn't know !

No, not at all worried about internal rusting.

But if I was I'd think long and hard about a way of introducing WD40, waxoyl or similar without covering the glass.

I can't think of an easy way.

I bet Tom Cruise could do it while dangling off a wire.
