 Directions - Legoland Windsor - ....
We'll be visiting in the next couple of weeks. Staying near Marlow.
I'm planning on using the A330; Drift Road and approach from the south on the B3022.

Question: How do I get to the A330 ?
1. Join the queue on A404(M) then on to the A308(M) ?
2. Is it quicker down through Cookham and Maidenhead?
3. Bisham into Maidenhead ?

Or, is it none of the above and it doesn't matter which way you go it'll be gridlock.

Aiming to get to Legoland for around 9:30 each day.

I know the area reasonably well, used to stay in Cookham when visiting the UK HQ of a company I previously worked for on Bath Road in Slough.

A404, A308 to Braywick roundabout, follow the A330 until it becomes the A3022, carry on though Winkfield, turn left at roundabout, Legoland about a mile on the left.

You can use Drift Road if you like but it doesn't make much difference and IIRC it has road humps on it.

Thanks for the warning.
Road humps and Volvo R-design suspension do not make for happy passengers.

I don't see any speed humps on Drift Rd looking at streetview. Are you sure, Manatee? That was my teenage drag strip. Well, so far as it was possible to drag a 17-yr old Escort MK1 1100. Pushing was more common.

No I'm not absolutely certain at all about the speed bumps - it's a while since I was there but I had a recollection of them at the Winkfield end.

I used to visit Winkfield, usually via Wycombe, quite regularly and I tended to trundle down the A330 from Braywick because it's hard to go wrong! (If I came the other way via Windsor I'd pass Legoland and then turn right at the roundabout.)

For a while there were some roadworks or other obstacle at the Braywick end of the A330, and I used Drift Road - A308/Fifield Road/Drift Road - and there were definitely some bumps on that route somewhere. I could be remembering these, on Fifield road.

"The Drift" certainly looks as if it has racetrack potential. ISTR there was an interesting looking big house visible along there as well.

Yes, I think that's offices now. Billy Connolly used to live at the Cranbourne end, Gruntfuttock Hall.

I used to tear along thre in my girlfriend's mother's Alfasud 1.5Ti. That was a bit more satisfying than my Escort.

There was also a boozer down there called, I think, The Cider House. Was often full of bikers - leathery hell's angels sorts. I was driving down there one day and noticed what Runfer would probably call a stromash proceeding in the car park. As I passed, one of them got thumped so hard he was knocked in to the road in front of me. Good job I knew cadence braking even as a 17/18 year old.

Just remember not to let any speedbumps upset the wheelbarrow full of money you'll need to pay the entrance fee. Oh, and one Wednesday soon Beestling Minor's year 6 class will be there. Just so's you know.

The entrance fees have been taken care of. We'll be there on Thursday & Friday so no WDB jnr. to watch out for.
I think the hotel restaurant may be of more concern for the finances. We'll not get out without dropping a three figure sum for two adults and two children from what I can see online and I'm not talking 3 courses the latest celebrity chef has sweated over.

we wouldn't want to encourage those rough people from Reading and places like that into our nice pubs, would we? :-)

It's OK, cd. We don't want the straw hatted stripey blazered yahoos in our boozers either.

They only visit, you know, Vić. And anyway, that was last week; they've all gone now.
