The 'eejit biker' thread has reminded me that a lot of fixed cameras have been decommissioned in the last 2-3 years (certainly round here). I would be very interested to know if this has affected the accident rate, given how much they were supposed to have improved matters when they were working...

The government will do it's usual 'oh dont worry about speed camera's. hey look over here at this new fangled thing we have'
i.e. more distraction by introducing something else taking our focus away from what has failed

I do hope so, as we have a large offshore one proposed off the Needles. If it goes ahead, I will run a book on the first collision with a tanker or container ship.

Thanks, CGN - much appreciated. Interesting that some authorities are no longer keeping records since the cameras were switched off. It wouldn't do to have comparative data, would it..? :-)
