i was overun by rats and the more i killed the more i got
they were even eating the bodies of dead mice caught in the rat traps so i put a car in the garage all afternoon increased the tickover and let it run for hours in an attempt to kill all the rats

I doubt if the Ukranian car had a cat, yours probably did.

A few years ago there was a story in the paper about somebody who tried to kill himself by running his car in a locked garage.

The noise drew attention and he was rescued, its catalytic converter saved his life.

If you want to kill yourself (or rats) get a pre-1990 model.

Nope, 4 stroke aircooled V4.

Maybe if he'd had a 'cat' then the rats wouldn't have been a problem ?

I've used a lawnmower with a hosepipe to kill moles. Periodically I closed the choke to send puffs of black smoke seeping out of holes all over the garden.

A classic mistake...because how do you then kill the cat?

I went to an inquest where the guy had died while working on the car in a garage with the engine running.

He had his head in the footwell which were told did him no favours because the noxious gases are heavier than air.
