If you job depended on your licence...he should know better.

A bit silly, but also a bit draconian - I can't imagine there was much traffic at a quarter to one in the morning.
When does 'speeding' become 'dangerous driving' in the eyes of the law, I wonder..?

Some think it is automatic.

More than 100mph and over twice legal limit isn't just speeding. What little trafic there is at 00:45 is still entitled to the law's protection.

Can't do the time, etc...

Between midnight and 1 - just the time when you have people walking home after imbibing a little too much.
Another driver who doesn't care about anyone else and deserved what he got.

A victimless 'crime', and a punishment with consequences far in excess of just deserts?
Perhaps not, there could have been a cyclist or pedestrian about.

Its unlikely, there at that time of night, and it is a victimless crime as there is no victim, not even anyone affected.
However, the punishment is not that bad, I would have been expecting a 12 month ban minimum for over twice the speed limit, and unlike some of the ludicrous sentencing handed out in England lately, no jail time.
So in my book, no story really

I suggest confiscating the car might have more effect.
