 Fiesta vs 1 series - IJWS14
Lady from a few doors down came up on Suday afternoon, she has a 1 series (original version) as company car and having just had a baby needs more room and wanted to know how we liked SWMBOs Fiesta as she was considering one instead of the 1 series.

Oddly enough she thought there was much more room in the Fiesta than the 1 series.

One up for Ford?

TBH I'd have thought it more odd if the Beamer were seen as more spaciuos than a Fiesta.

Compact + RWD is always going to be a challenge!!

Interestingly when we were costing up leasing deals before I retired, 1 series was cheaper to lease than a Fiesta, probably because of residuals.

The one series is small, i'm too tall for the passenger seat, feel squashed against the roof :-( or the alternative is to lay the seat back down a fair bit, not ideal.

The new fester is pretty reasonable, we were looking at them a while back, i fit in all the seats and comfortably enough for semi-long distance.

I was next to a new Fiesta at traffic lights the other day and I thought it looked massive. The latest Corsa looks huge too.
All these little cars seem to have really grown.

The latest Fiesta is twice as heavy as the original - something to do with safety.

Corsa and Fiesta are now nearer in size to first Astra or fwd Escort. Is there a small GM product below the Corsa?

Yes - Chevrolet products inc. the Splash

On TG at the weekend, the surprising weight of the old Sierra Sapphire Cosworth was something like 1200kg. (or was it 1300kg). A new Polo is probably more than that. I know it's crash protection etc.

Boot is a bit small on both for a pushchair though - better to get a Fusion as a small family car really. I quite fancy one from time to time, one of the few Fords I like.

Impressive that it still clocked a genuine 144 as well, with probably a little more to come. All from a 20 yr old 2.0 four in a 5 seat family saloon.

Re the OP's question, I wonder if the transmission tunnel in the BMW makes it seem a little more claustrophobic than the Fiesta, which I would imagine has a much flatter floor.
