6 years is not enough.

A lifetime driving ban would produce a lifetime illegal driver in six years time. Or more likely three years.

An "Audi Lunatic" sounds like a new model with a special kind of automatic transmision.

Only works well on certain moonlit evenings? Sounds like DSG renamed.

I wonder how he managed to hire the car in the first place?

Reported elsewhere. His mate hired the car and lent it to him.

Precisely. Your license is the first thing that gets asked for in my experience.

Or was it "hired" from "a mate"?

His mate should be in jail as well... pour encourager les autres.

"Haroon admitted causing death by dangerous driving, causing death whilst unlicensed, causing death whilst uninsured and dangerous driving."

Given that sounds about as serious as it can get, is 6 years the maximum penalty? If its not, then I wonder what he would have needed to be doing extra to actually get the maximum.

Although its difficult to tell with BBC reporting which doesn't seem to say much about the accident circumstances, but focuses on what he'd been doing previously.

There will be sentencing guidelines for each offence. Cannot access them right now on phone but I'd guess the recommended time for offence might be 10 to 12 years. Milado will have got a discount for guilty (assuming it was timely) and possibly for other factors too, cannot remember what report said about his previous.

I'd be interested to know when you have time/energy to check it out.

All guidelines are here:

Death by dangerous is here:

If that's the law then so be it, but it sends out the wrong message I think.

Per North West Tonight sentence has been appealed against by CPS. Hopefully will be significantly lengthened.
