hi everyone

I am insured through swintons for 30 years I need business insurance for both me and my common law partner of 6 years we car share so I use it 4 days and she uses it 3 .
I can get business insurance for myself no problem I could get it for my partner if she was my wife .
Does anyone know an insurance company that will insure me and my partner
thanks agh

Free bump to give fresh air time as was originally posted in the "Introduce Yourself" section.

May depend on type of business use. Moving between employer and client sites is one thing, commercial travelling is another.

LV= worked for us on similar circs. I was a Civil Servant attending meetings etc away from my own office and my OH was a peripatetic teacher moving between schools and occasionally carrying kids too. We were each covered in our own cars and each others. IIRC it was treated as class B business use. Might have weighted my premium a bit but it was never outrageous - £250-300 for a 2litre diesel estate doing 20k miles pa.

Admiral and Elephant did it previously too. I fell out with them but over insuring my kids for SD&P not anything to do with business use.

Would one of the search engines - compare the market, money saving expert, or whatever - quote for business use?

Can Swinton not find this cover? Surely that is what brokers are for?

"Swinton can provide a flexible range of standard and specialist car insurance policies for a wide range of cars and drivers."

I didn't think insurance companies made any such 'discrimination' these days.

Someone else mentioned LV - OK, I'm married, but the policy even covers business use by our kids. Had to ask for that, but no problem, and no cost.

I mentioned class A or B business use but looks as though correct terms are class 1 or 2

Class 1 is policy holder only but may include a spouse. That term though is limited to the legally married. It does not cover partners or that legal fiction the 'common law spouse'.

Class 2, which is what i now have and OP may need too, adds further named driver(s) for general business travel.

Class 3 adds 'riskier' usages such as door to door sales, deliveries etc.
