Wheel trims over balance weights. - adamf
Morning all,

Might be a bit of a daft question but thought i would ask before wasting money. I have steel wheels on the Van which are a little tatty and i want to put some wheel trims on but all the wheels have balancing weights on the outside of the wheel.

Will wheel trims fit over the weights or will i have to get the wheels re-balanced on yhe inside?

Maybe.

It's an escort van isn't it?

Just checked on my escort, estate car not van, there are some balance weights on the outside of the back wheels and the proper ford wheel trims fit with no problem.

Should fit, all wheel trims i've seen have the tension wire that holds the wheel trim in place, mounted further into the wheel than where the balance weights sit.

Having said that i've not seen that many wheel trims, everything has alloys these days!

Yes its a escort Van.

Many thanks for your replies. Ill buy some cheap ones out of Eurocarparts and hope they fit.

The last car I had with wheel trims had a picture on the back of the wheeltrim which showed the type (shape) of weight which it could accomodate.

if you have the wrong type of weight it should be as simple as changing them for the right type.
