Local accident - Ian (Cape Town)
tinyurl.com/p4hc6pg

This happened yesterday morning just round the corner from my house.
60km/h limit road, dual carriageway, with buslane running up between the carriageways.
LARGE signs at traffic lights "RIGHT TURN ON GREEN ARROW ONLY", yet some muppet in that 845 toyota does a u-turn across the path of the truck, which swerves into the carpark, where bus commuters do their 'park and ride' thing.
The missus was walking to pick up the nipper from school - end-of-term, they got out early.
Had the accident happened a few minutes later, that corner would have been teeming with kids... A terrible thought.

That building in the background, with the cellphone mast behind it, is my local pub, by the way!

A reminder that survival is largely a matter of luck!

Is it only (some) journalists who don't know the difference between careered and careened? At least it didn't 'plough into' the cars or (thankfully) 'mow' many people down. Full credit for that.
