At the Silverstone classic, I noticed behind the pits a supplier of R5S and R6S racing fuels that competitors were topping up with.

The usual search engines can't enlighten me.

Anyone here know the difference between these formulations and the stuff we buy at Tesco's?

We noticed the Gulf petrol station advertising "Unleaded 102", didn't wander close enough to investigate fully though.

Apparently the ingredients have to be the same as pump fuel, but they are allowed to play with the proportions, whilst retaining octane within bounds, I believe. A link: www.f1technical.net/articles/19 BTW, anyone know what "insurates", shown in th pie charts, actually are?

There's something about using "race fuel" in my manual and it will trip the check engine light. A quick google just there says something to do with lambda values. Wonder if it would damage the cat too then.
