For newer cars most of the manufacturers have a used car search on their websites. All the car retailers have a used car search for a whole range of cars from pre registered to trade ins. A Google search for private used car sales UK came up with a host of websites selling cars. For example Exchange and Mart claims 100,000 cars for sale.

If you type autotrader into google and then click the little red down arrow next to it you can search for similar sites. eg

www.whatcar.com/classifieds/approved-used-cars
www.motorpoint.co.uk/browsecars
www.parkers.co.uk/cars/for-sale
www.usedcarmart.co.uk
www.desperateseller.co.uk

No, it's for people who have cars with expensive door mirrors that they can't afford to keep replacing !

motors.co.uk is a bit like autotrader, though the search isn't as refinable. Manufacturers websites often have a used car search across their franchised dealers.

It says a lot for the effectiveness and reach of the "other" sites that people have to ask. It's all well and good listing a car for sale on a cheaper site, but if no-one's heard of it (or trusts it) you're wasting your money, surely?
