Ho ho. No, not me. I was out last night but in the LEC. And I've watched enough cars float away from outside the quayside pub in my mum's coastal village to know that the signs mean what they say.

"An indicator blinks helplessly as the vehicle drifts off in the video" - on a BMW? Nahhhh...

Oh I really really want to hear more about this. I hope someone hung around and filmed the owner on his return.

These sort of events when we were kids, were regular entertainment at weekends.
When the tides were right we knew there was a good chance to see one or more cars flooded but they never seemed to float off.
Where ? On the ramp along side Richmond Bridge on the Middlesex side.
Warning notice? what notice? I will not be long!

Getting worried now Henry K, it's 3.30am and you're still not back?

I used to live just down the road, henry - Riverdale Gardens.
And yes, twas a quite common occurrence!
On the opposite bank, there was the road outside the White Cross which suffered the same fate. In fact, there was a pic in the bar of an XJS ragtop up to the door handles.

aha! (though not a jag)

This one regularly catches out tourists, especially those who don't know how fast water can move across an almost flat surface.

Know it well. We had lunch there a few months back.

Another, not quite as drastic flooding road is alongside the lock bridge that leads to Twickenham Bridge and Ducks Walk.
It is a very quiet road with no houses overlooking it so is a favourite for parking up at night and indulging in other activities.
The river water comes up the drains and floods the road before it is seen to flood over the pavement then...Oh Dear!

It's always fun to sit in the White Swan in Twickenham and watch people in the beer garden not noticing the river suddenly cutting them off from the mainland.

Lands End ford near Reading is a good source of material for the local newspapers, there's always a couple of morons caught out by it every year.

An indicator blinks...

It's the hazard flashers, Smokie, set off by the tow-away alarm. All BMWs have indicator lights; it's the switch that's an expensive option.
};---)
(I was lucky with mine: its first owner went tick-mad on the options list.)
