Citroen - Mis build on factory order - Ck1
Hello

My first time on a motoring forum so I'm hoping for some wise advice as I'm a bit perplexed as what myself and my hubby are to do now.

First time for us getting a brand new car on PCP. We ordered through a hire company and went for the Citroen C4 Grande Picasso...we couldn't stretch to the exclusive + which is the top spec so we settled with the exclusive but added a style pack on it which gave us the panoramic sunroof tinted windows and LED lights.

We were contacted last week by prospectus to say the car had been delivered to Citroen when could we take delivery.

Today I get a phone call from prospectus to tell me there is a problem with the car. It's been built to the exclusive spec in the colour we want but minus the style pack. I've been told Citroen are searching their fleet to see if they can find the exact car for us (which they won't find hense the reason we had to factory order)

Has anybody got any experience of this and what would you suggest we do? I am obviously not going to accept the car as it's not what we ordered...but we have been waiting 2 months for the car..

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated..as they say for warned is for armed

Thank you

Charlotte

What level of commitment was given on the documentation you received? Read the Ts&Cs.

Was it committed to a date, an approximate or guideline date? etc. etc.

I rather suspect that you will have to choose between;

- Kick up a stink and perhaps get some small benefit.
- Cancel the order without penalty
- Live with it.

But first, about that documentation....?

I've had a look at the documentation I've had..

So far a written quotation of the different specs and the amount it would cost depending on term..

I have filled in and signed a credit check form which approved us for the PCP

Prospectus have completed the ordering of the vehicle on our behalf I presume

So officially we haven't signed anything that ties us to that order!

I suspect that you may have to choose between the three options I listed. Sorry.

Unless someone else happens along who knows better.

Ok thank you...I'll try number one

By the way, for clarity, I mean "live with it" as in live with the further delay, not live with the unacceptable car.

Any chance the dealer might be able to fit those style pack extras for you at some point in the future, or does that have to be done at the factory?

EDIT: I mean paid for by prospectus

While some could be done by a dealer I think the panoramic roof is a bridge too far....

If you really want those extras and you intend to keep the car after the PCP has ended then I would want it exactly how I ordered it.

Reject it and try again...

Or accept the car as it is, with a hefty discount.

Welcome to the forum.

We are waiting to have our new car delivered end of June beginning July.We also ordered the new C4 Grand Picasso with sunroof and tinted glass.Plus a spare tyre to be fitted including the order.

Just curious if our car will be what we have asked for.Our car is on the motability scheme don't know if that makes any difference.

Hey everybody thanks for your replies and your welcome 😉

I've had some further info prospectus are doing well on our behalf it seems...they have rejected the car knowing we would of rejected it anyway. Citroen are still looking to see if the car we ordered is anywhere in the country. It could be that somebody has ordered the exact same car and not gone through with the sale. Chance is slim in my opinion but we'll wait.

In the mean time the director has demanded if a new order has to be put through for a new car then we should be given a long term demo.

So fingers crossed. I told hubby I'd be happy with an exclusive + for the same price as the exclusive spec. Where he said he'd be happy with the same spec with a massive discount. Oh how we differ 😁😁

I've bought a few new cars over the years, some with my own money, some with my wife's and some with my employer's but usually I've done the deal.

Anyway, for what it's worth, I've found that the best deals are usually on dealer stock. They want to move those first and they will give the best prices on them.

I tend to go to, or otherwise contact them with a list of "must haves" and a supplementary list of "would likes" in terms of spec, colours etc.

Usually, if you are prepared to compromise a bit on the "would like" element they can find you something you'll enjoy having at the best price.

It's sometimes best to be more clear about what you don't want ( eg no yellow ones please! ) and let them come back with suggestions.

Got £9000 off the one I bought ( with someone else's money ! ) last week because it's a run out model and I was prepared to compromise on colour.

For example.

Men and women do differ that makes us interesting..;)

Sounds like Prospectus are doing a good job of looking after you - which is nice.

Good luck, and don't forget to let us know what happens.

There's little or no profit to a dealer in Motability sales, unless there have been significant changes to the astronomical discounts applied to them.

Motability is, IIRC, the biggest fleet/lease buyer in UK.

The Skoda and Citroen franchises I dealt with when replacing my Berlingo were promoting their Motability offerings. Both had designated and named sales reps who were Motability specialists. So did Peugeot's place.

I guess there must be some money in it now, even if it's high volume/low margin.

Unless of course the profit is all going to the brand HQ and Motability's showroom profile is part of the franchise agreement.

worth a read and answers some of the questions. Seems a very healthy company.

When I held a Proton franchise most of the Motability leads came from Head Office. Those we received direct were referred up and ordering etc. was handled by them, unless we happened to have the right model in stock. We received a handling fee only; I can't remember if the sale was accepted as part of our sales target.
A Motability deal, purely from a financial standpoint, given the paperwork and pre-delivery involved, was a pain in the butt.

The dealer was telling us that plenty of people lost their higher disability allowance.

Yep, seeing a lot of that as folks transition from DLA to PIP. The goalposts for 'unable or virtually unable to walk' have shifted by 30 metres.

We (CA) cannot possibly meet demand for help with form filling or reconsideration/appeals. Having to spread ourselves thinly to most vulnerable etc. Rest we can only signpost to web etc resources.
