Not a case of wrong gear rather a case of no gear?

Or someone hadn't applied the electronic parking brake.

Maybe another case of the handbrake using the rear discs. If the handbrake's applied when the discs are hot then when they cool down the brake can become less effective on some models. Or have the manufacturers sorted that out now?

Something a bit strange there.

The VW would have to have been moving pretty damned quick to bounce across to the Fiat's roof rather than falling into the gap yet seemingly not so fast that it either damaged or pushed the Fiat off the perpendicular.

Almost looks staged.

It is right beside Glasgow University, although the students are currently on holiday
Student prank?

....if you look at the front wheels, the rears would have had to have jumped something in excess of 8 inches of wall, and as NOFMR says, at quite a speed.

There is no sign of resulting damage in the pictures.

The geography of the place doesn't lend itself to that speed (and note - it is University premises - student prank?)

Thanks for the Google link.
It certainly looks staged.
An expensive prank with two cars damaged plus recovery.
