Just watched the opening rally of the season..Monte Carlo. Can't say that it holds much interest for me these days, but with modern machinery I wonder how fast these Fiestas, i20s, Yaris compare to the old group B stuff?
Glad I was around to watch Vatanen in his black Escort, listen to the Quattros in the forest at night and see Toivenon in the Sunbeam Lotus

Got to agree on all counts. An avid rally fan but its all become a bit 'same old'. There is little to tell between the cars which all look the same. Try and keep up with the WRC but as there is no mainstream warning that events are coming up its a bit hit and miss.
Enjoyed the Monte due to the very different road conditions. But whats going on!?? The Col de Turini in the daylight - jeez!!
As for comparing the Group B beasts to the latest cars I would imagine that these small and technologically advanced cars could probably out pace them but they are just not the same spectacle.

Watched it last night.

I am normally bored.. I found it rivetting.
Highly recommended.. lots of action and excellent coverage made it really great to watch. Real excitement watching cars on ice.

Made F1 look what it is - processional.

Sky - Sports - 447 Motors TV.

Friday night is rally night if that's your bag with coverage of local an some international events. WRC has a repeated 30 min slot on the evening at the end of each day.
