While driving through a tiny rural hamlet (with no school) this morning I saw triangular school sign which had been modified to read "Caution free range children". Well it made me smile!

There's a sign near me on a combined footpath/cycle path that says:
Caution
cyclists
children
Is that warning the cyclists, or the children?
|
Don't start me on grammar and comprehension on road signs...:-)

Did you write that 'sentence' to illustrate how many mistakes you are familiar with?

It's a missing apostrophe.
It should read:
Warning
Cyclists'
children

A great sign in Wiverton, North Norfolk, at each end of the village: "Slow You Down". Very Norfolk I always think!
|
There used to be a sign outside a less than desirable estate in Barking, to which some wag had added "Honk if you smell of wee".
|
I like this one goo.gl/maps/Nw8GGwDTi5n at Castle Carrock. Would love to know the background behind that. You may have to zoom in a bit.

My local favourite

30 limit then 35 feet of freedom before 30 limit restored
But freedom to the right over a blind Z bend over a humped bridge.
( No idea why the road name and speed sign is fuzzed out. Any ideas?)

A favourite from some years back in Feltham near LHR that I have a photo of before it was removed.
A proper triangular warning sigh with the words "Trees removed".
Any ideas before i reveal what I think it might have been about ?

If you 'move forward' a bit, the signs are legible - strange.
|
Even stranger is the fact that if you are travelling North there do not appear to be any NSL signs on leaving the 30.
If you 'move forward' a bit, the signs are legible - strange. Not that strange - just the privacy algorithm interpreting the angled view differently.

Yesterday I happened to be driving through Bodmin. There a section of the A38 is set up as an area of indecision. IE no roads signs, no road markings of any kind even on roundabouts, road surface made of of different materials, no street furniture in the way of bollards.
Only difference was that pedestrians couldn't cross the road, because all the drivers just bumped over the raised crossways areas as if they were ski ramps.

What's the point of the 'camera not in use' signs?

Depends if you believe it.

Because people complain that they don't know if a 'trap' is live or not.
|
There is a speed camera near me that has had a "Camera under test" sign on it since it was installed about five years ago. Is it still under test or has the sign been forgotten? It most likely generates more income with the sign. :-)

New Road Layout Ahead.
Meanwhile 20 years later...
