At least she had the good grace to cough the job.

Most in her position would determinedly wriggle on the hook.

She'll probably try and claim it on expenses :-)

She could claim lots of taxis, chauffeur drive..................all at our expense.

Still cheaper than my first insurance policy, though. I propose that the fine is linked to the income of the person committing the offence (if they're unemployed we can take a leg or something) and that way, every time someone is fined for no insurance, it goes into a lottery and a few people get their own insurance money refunded.

Hence, a bonus for us law-abiding folk and an extra kick in the teeth for the guilty. :-)

I don't think fines could realistically be income based, drug dealer scum possibly on the dole too would have no income declared anyway being just one example.

There should be a system in place where the insurance companies can provide an average quote for the guilty, the court then trebles or whatever what it should have cost, then costs on top, whilst it's cheaper to be uninsured they'll carry on.

Why is it so satisfying to see politicians get their comeuppance?

Because it makes us feel poncily and mimsily virtuous, when the truth of the matter is that we aren't clever or determined enough to start the climb up the greasy pole. Pure, despicable schadenfreude.

This isn't aimed at you gb. It's a general phenomenon. Even I am not completely immune.

Not sure how somebody which appears to have such a blatent dis regard to the law can be an MP but that is just my own opinion.

After lying about WMD and killing thousands of people, fines for motoring offences are just a mere bagatelle.. hardly worth mentioning...

That is one of the qualifications, as is being a good liar.

No political bias - they are all the same!
