 "Steadyburn light" - Bobby
Have often wondered why the latest fleet of local ambulances have a fixed blue light on the back door that doesnt flash.

Just watching a program on Dave about a Police garage and they refer to this light on their new fleet of police cars - its for speed cameras to show that the vehicle had its lights on in an emergency.

I assume standard speed camera stills may not have shown this if lights are flashing.

Silly idea really

1/ Operational records will show if they were on a shout or not at the time of offence

2/ LEDs are strobed, and there is a chance it will in an off state at moment of camera shutter

3/ Specs only take pictures of number plates.

Not if they were rushing back for a tea break.

That was the problem, these operational records!

What this meant, in reality, was an admin member of staff getting all the NIPs and then having to trawl through several sources of records to cross check that the vehicle was on a shout.
Apparently this light stops them being sent in first place.

Do Police vehicles have something similar?

Might be an additional way to identify the increasing number of covert vehicles. Covert until the blue lights in the grill start flashing. Round here there seems to be a disproportionate number of BMW/Audis used for this role?
