Where will you now be able to buy a double the price of the already expensive Range Rovers?

Problems for footballers just never seem to end.

link substituted for one from another website

I was going to click on the link, but then I saw the source. When I changed loyalties, it was complete and permanent.

how about the one that's there now?

Administration is not always the beginning of the end.

Overfinch, in common with Pontins, is still trading, albeit with a slightly different customer base.

Perhaps a victory for taste ? A few less blinged-up RRs in the world is surely no bad thing ? However please don't think this means I lack sympathy for the employees.

...Perhaps a victory for taste ?...

You could say the same about Pontins. :)

I remember walking past the Pontins camp in Southport in the early 80s. The perimeter was surrounded by a 10 foot high barbed wire fence through which we could see rather shabby looking prefabricated huts. This led us to wonder whether the barbed wire was intended to keep people in or out.

Being natives of Merseyside we also found the idea of people wanting to spend 2 weeks on holiday in Southport, let alone in something resembling a PoW camp, rather baffling.

Both Pontins, and Overfinch are heritage that wont be missed.

It's not even as if they were the best at what they did, it was pretty much all tasteless tat on the bling side and if you want your RR power output increased there's a garage, I forget the name but they're still going strong, supplying special forces RRs among others. They were getting something like 600bhp out of the v8 petrol!

Who did bling and performance minis?

It'll come to me in a minute.

Meanwhile, Tickford produced a tuned Aston and other bits and pieces.

How dare you say that.....:-)

Southport is a great place to live or visit. For many years it topped Blackpool for the highest number of day visitors annually and roads are usually busy into and out of the resort, especially in the summer or sunny winter weekends.

As for Pontins at Ainsdale, it used to be a terrific holiday centre, but the decline of holidays in the UK in favour of going abroad in the last decade or two meant not enough investment was put into the camps until recently.

Hopefully they will find a buyer and no jobs will be lost.

Overpaid footballers splashing their cash and keeping people in jobs and food on tables, sounds good to me.

I had many happy holidays at Pontins Southport. The point is there is lots of things for kids to do. It is not supposed to be an adult holiday.

Also Ainsdale (where Pontins Southport actually is) has a rather nice beach.

Actually Pontins at Ainsdale used to have (may still have) excellent cabaret entertainment in the evening, starting after the youngsters had been put to bed.

Used to go at least once a week as I had a free pass to the camp.

Some of the North West's top artistes appeared regularly.

Probably finding Range Rover itself offers a lot of the features they used to add maybe? Don't know. I thought Overfinch did the shotgun storage in the back but probably wrong.

I can see how this bling appealed to footballers etc. Maybe not a business model that will do well in a recession. But like Pontins it looks like removal of credit facility more than anything. But cash flow is important. Looks like they also hold stock.

I thought that theres still a company called Kahn conversions (or something like that),that bling up Range Rovers, so the footballers will have to go there if they want a tasteless car.
