Had a gentle drive from Lichfiled to Tamworth this morning though the fog, the guy behind me was very considerate in following at a reasonable distance even though I was well below the speed limits - the A51 here is 40/NSL/30/40/30 - however, he did dash off when he took a different exit at the roundabout as we went into Tamworth!
Didn't actually see any fog but as the idiot behind me had his fog lights on I chose to drive carefully as if it was foggy. He did have opporunities to overtake, but chose not to, so I assume he really did think it was foggy, or maybe his driving ability is at the level indicated by his choice of which lights he had switched on.

I'd have done the same as you, out of sheer bloody-mindedness if nothing else.
