AVG advises avoiding Autotrader due to some CZ originated / based malware on their systems
|
just dont look at old skodas and you will be fine
fine i tell yer........................
|
Good old AVG
Another false positive, its really accomplished at that.
|
just been speaking to another motor trader and autotrader has apparently killed his computer with lots of avg warnings bells and whistles
you cant beat linux
|
I take it all back
My machine (non AVG) has complained bitterly about an exploit.
|
ive just been on
no problems with linux
ive rung the trader back been into his account and deleted all the adverts that he was trying to put on
hes a bit more relieved now ive done that for him (im a good lad see)
the reason he realised he had a problem was when his credit card wouldnt go to the trusted confirmation site

It depends what add they have up and if you roll the mouse over it.

Thanks for that Z, we both used Ebay over the weekend..SWM's 'puter had that dodgy 'download this' anti attack come up, and i had the same invader but it didn't bring up the same.
We both performed full scans and the malware was called Exploit Win32/Pjfc something or other.
All clear now....and another thanks for steering us towards MSE, working well.
|
I had a warning on the Mac about a dodgy item on the IDM website at the weekend too. It was an advert for sure but couldn't say which.

The BBC had an issue recently serving up malware on the 6-Music and 1Xtra sites - see gansec.com/blog/?p=340

BBC Report:
Tens of thousands of people could have been caught out by cyber criminals who put booby-trapped adverts on popular webpages.
The criminals racked up the victims by compromising the computers used by ad firm Unanimis to display adverts to popular websites.
The ads appeared on the websites of the London Stock Exchange, Autotrader, the Vue cinema chain and six other sites.
Unanimis said it moved quickly to pull the adverts once they were discovered.

to update this the trader i spoke to has that page on his desktop and it stops him using the machine
i delved into this and found it was a rootkit as raTTle often talks about
as far as i know i have removed it in safe mode and with avast
would it be wise to reinstasll windoze just to be double safe seeing as he uses this work machine for paying credit card details?
