According to this report tinyurl.com/695xhnk insurance premiums have, on average, increased by 34%. If the average increse is 34% then there must be some which have increased considerably more than 34%. Mine, due shortly, has increased 11% and I'm well pleased with that. What's the percentage increase of yours?

I just yesterday got a quote for my dad ( 72 ) for his car, with me and my mum as named drivers as his is up in a few weeks.
His renewel was up £5, a quick search got it down by £20, so no increase as yet for him.

Well mine's actually gone down by 8% (renewal quote from current insurer), so I'm quite happy :-)

Last week th second car was added to our multi car policy. The premium was unchanged from that quoted in January.

The Vitara came down £8.
The Jowett...about the same as last year.
The Note was up but I couldn't be assed shopping around at the time.

All three with Sureterm Direct.

Son's Astra Sport went to £760ish TPFT and I got Comp elsewhere for £312.

No consistency anywhere.

I have yet to pay more at renewal time for the same cover. The same held true this year (renewed in May) although the reduction was the smallest ever (£8 or 2.5%).
I have used comparison websites to shop around every year since 2004, and only twice (including this time) have I renewed with my existing insurer.

Same for me with Zurich. The price matched the lowest offered on GoCompare but none of these, for instance, included breakdown cover and/or legal assistance.

Interestingly for mine moneysupermarket didn't come up with any lower prices; in fact the quote from my existing insurer was around £40 more than the renewal quote!!

I have noticed though that they's sneaked another level excess in if I don't use their approved repairer in the event of an accident. Bit naughty, so will be giving them a call I think...

£320 with Tesco last year.
£372 with Tesco this year.

When my non fault claim finally gets sorted out (sigh!), I should get some money back.

The renewal for my Passat came through last month, £750 compared with £230 last year. I told them to stuff it, went on line and within 10 minutes had renewed for £300. A mate of mine had a similar experience with his 1 Series renewal - got it down from a quoted £980 to £420.

I think some brokers and ins companies are trying it on, and, hopefully, losing customers as a result. Mind you, I think there's always a few mugs out there who just pay up regardless.

Mine was hiked by £500 too, it doesn't need renewing until October, and I have seen some quotes for £1k, I just hope they still exist by October.

Funnily enough all the budget ones were quoting me high prices, the cheapest price was actually Axa.

Partner's £400 premium was quoted for remewal at £500. Got on the phone and said no good - 15 other cheaper on comparison sites. Renewed with a £3 increase.

Last year's premium for TPFT on the Escort was £276. I was charged an extra £45 to upgrade to fully comp cover and swap it to the Mondeo with exactly 3 months left to run on the policy - an effective annual hike of £180 to give an annual premium of £456 for fully comp cover.

After getting some Rattle-territory renewal quotes, and after a lot of phoning around, the price I paid in May was £572, a rise of £116 on last year or 26%.

Gaffer's FRV with both of us named drivers and business use (for me if my car was out of action) - was about £340 last year, renewal was £440 (elephant.co.uk).

Onto the search engines and got slightly better cover (£150 voluntary XS rather than £250) from Sheila's Wheels (part of esure) - £230.

Last year the renewal had gone from £330 to £340 and there wasn't any others much better.

Surprised as apparently the FRV was last year's most smashed car, followed by the Volvo XC90 (*cough* school run *cough*).
