I have a 2009 Legacy diesel that as done 48k miles and smokes like no tomorrow. On start up in belches out lots of blue smoke (oil) and under acceleration it pumps out black smoke like a diesel from the early 90's.
Anyone else have any experience of one of these and if their car was the same?
PS - I do let the car warm up properly (at least 15 mins driving) but after that I am a 'press-on' driver. If I pootle about, the black smoke is even worse. The blue smoke is unaffected.

Sounds like an injector problem, but as it is still under warranty, surely the problem is all Subaru's?

Have a friend with one, and it certainly doesn't do that. It had a new clutch at 60k miles and 18 months, and Subaru paid for it which I thought was extraordinarily generous for a car with a towbar...
+1 to Boxsterboy.

Give it a dose of Millers injector cleaner.

OR a few gallons of BP Ultimate/Shell V-power - cured a smokey MB diesel a few years back - and quietened the tickover

Give it to me, it will be belching clean air in a week!
