 A blast from the past. - R.P.
This photo has appeared on my FB account. It is me as I was in 1981 on a bike trip to Italy - suave, sophisticated with a little too much leather......sorry couldn't resist posting it, I normally avoid this sort of openness !

I looked 31 years younger than I do now, 31 years ago, strange but true.

31 years? it's shocking what happens in 10.

Had to renew the photo for me replacement HGV due to 5 year medical.

The bloke who looked like he should have been starring on Police 5 has vanished and some old frat that looks like he should have retired years ago has substituted himself...and its all downhill from here, damnit.

I always think, when I see photos of myself from decades ago, if only that man knew then what his older self does now...( and not necessarily just some appropriate lotto numbers ! )

I was playing with my wife's (wait for it, wait for it) laptop the other and I took a snapshot of myself (like ya do) with the webcam ... frightened the blimmin life out of me that did!

:o}

You look like you are pooing in your helmet....

Probably could've handled a curry and few pints in those days.

Is that a Triumph Stag in the background (motoring link :-]) ?

Very fetching in all that leather Rob.

I was trying to figure that out - looks like a Fiat Supermirafiori (Panda doesn't quite sound the same does it ?) to me....

With the zoom I'd go with that. Whats a Panda? ;-)

I was looking at some pictures from a trip to Europe in 2003. It is shocking how thin and skinny I looked only 9 years ago. I took about 20 years old now. Which is worries me as I am not even 30 yet! By 40 I will look 60.

Looking at old pictures makes me depressed.

It shouldn't Rats...
After RP's post, I was looking at some of my old pictures.
I think, I look better now... more meat on my bones!

I did think about posting one - had second thoughts, dont wanna give certain people ammo!

Everything makes you depressed!

The trouble is when someone says 1981 I still think of it as being a few years ago, not 31 years ago, the years seem to have gone by so fast.
Like Dog, I (accidently) turned on the webcam on the netbook a few weeks ago & couldn't believe that the haggered, grey haired, doubled chinned image looking looking at me was me !

Oh, what it is to have a full head of hair :)
 A blast from the past. - R.P.
I was looking at that photo and I could easily emulate that hairstyle - no receding hairline, no "spotlight"....
A blast from the past. - Runfer D'Hills
So could I, it'd just be a shade or three lighter in colour these days !

Here we go then: i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g456/bathtubshare/IMG.jpg

I'm the tall skinny one on the right (half the weight and ten times the hair then).

It's my bike. A virtual firkin to anyone who can identify it.

'65, scouseland IIRC.

Isn't that a front disc I can see?
A blast from the past. - bathtub tom
Disc, in '65?

If you look carefully, you can make out part of the registration on the side of the deeply valanced front mudguard.

The engine's a Villiers 8E.

Either someone's really hot on identification or they're so bored they've been trawling my old posts. ;>)

James deserves a virtual pint for being close.

Here's someone who looked like me in '81.

I think he was at a party, lighting a Woodbine for Princess Caroline of Monaco.

A relatively youthful touring cyclist circa 1987. A bit past halfway on a route from home in Watford to Port Patrick on the Mull of Galloway.

tinyurl.com/77yvege (links to Photobucket). The album also includes some aviation stuff from 77/78ish at Leeds-Bradford and Finningley.

Still got the Dawes bike and the now vintage Karrimor Bardale bar bag.
