 New ways of teaching arithmetic - L'escargot

The old ways worked for me and I haven't had any problems since then. I didn't need any chunking and partitioning, and I still don't. I think it's change for changes sake. Someone got a job in the higher echelons of the education system and they had to change the method so that it appeared that they were justifying their salary.
