You can say that again Mildew ;) add to that the effect of a global epidemic of obesity on future food requirements :(
|
I think euthanasia is usually presumed to be voluntary by definition, although strictly the word only means "easy or good death".
So if a crept up on you and killed you instantly before you knew, that would be euthanasia, but probably not voluntary.

A bit of tautology never hurt anyone :)

...........depends how taut you pulled it.

The thing which gives me the most concern is the net population growth, and it's a pity there isn't a figure for the amount of land covered by new housing etc to cater for the net population growth.
|
Dog
And I thought that you were looking for volunteers to implement a a program of euthanasia of others, (or even yourself)! :)

There's some charity that "Never Puts a Healthy Dog Down" so he's safe
|
Let's face it, we're all doomed!
|
Horrifying stats. There must surely be a total breakdown of control and of all social structures before very long.
|
Actually, I am 'doing my bit' in as much as I haven't visited a Doctor for nigh-on 20 years.
I don't (and wont) take any pills to prolong my short stay on this planet.
And I've recently given up eating any dead (or otherwise) animals - for the remainder of my life.
|
Most populations are finally dictated by food supplies being used up.
The only problem with the world turning veggie is it gives the Earth capacity to carry more of us - the last thing this planet requires is more humans ;-)
|
We need more cannibals, not vegetarians.

And don't forget. It could add to global warming due to extra methane output.

That could come in quite handy actually as there isn't any mains gas up ere.

How to tap it though Dog. I'll leave that to your vivid imagination.

So the local pussies will be relieved then, Bonzo.

I shall still be partaking of some pussy if the opportunity should manifest itself Teddy.

Don't know what that is Dog but the fact that I get 'access denied' when I try to browse it in the office tells me all I need to know :)

The number of bicycles produced this year is 2.2 times the number of cars produced. So where are all these bicycles?
|

15,000 days left to the end of oil, but 60,000 day left to the end of gas. I wish we had gas heating instead of oil!

41 years should see me out :)

Both can be synthesised easily from coal for which there are 100s of years of reserves even in the UK - bottom line is how much we are willing to pay to obtain it.
|
That's the good thing about the Canaries see - you don't need any heating or air con.
I keep on looking at Cyprus, but its quite cool in the Winter, and too blimmin hot in the Summer.
|
Canaries have about the best year overall climate on the planet. Never too hot nor too cold.
Could be tempted to live there, especially the island of La Palma
|
I agree CGN! I was in Lanzarote In August many years ago and that was slightly outside my comfort zone! The only place with an even more equable climate is a small town called Atlixco North of Mexico City and at 6000 ft and in the shadow of an active volcano so I think I'll give that a miss!
|
La Palma does of course also have a number of active volcanoes
|
Relax! Last eruption was 1971. There have been 7 since 1470 and all were different volcanoes so it is a bit like the Lottery!
|
>>Could be tempted to live there, especially the island of La Palma<<
This is all I could find for you CG, best to rent somewhere for 3 months, see if you'll like it, then look around.

As long as half the island doesn't slide into the sea while you're there. There is a large fissure running through it. Predicted to cause a mega tsunami aimed towards the east coast of America. Will probably happen outside your lifetime though.
