Can remember him as Eddie Yates in Corri St,
Twiggy in The Royal Family,
Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances, (although I didn't actually watch it)
and Vernon Scripps in Heartbeat.

I thought he deserved a burial plot of his own, instead of sharing someone else’s.
|
He did Paul's voice in the Beatles film, Yellow Submarine.

>> He did Paul's voice in the Beatles film
Pity he didn't do the same at the Queen's Jubilee concert and the Olympic opening ceremony.

And the most unpopular person, clearly, is Paul McCartney.

Tony Blackburn and Paul McCartney are both top blokes, they must be to attract all this sniping.

A comment in yesterday's Sunday Times, apparently quoting a twitterer, suggested that the choice of Paul McCartney was a stroke of pure genius.
It was the quickest way to get everyone to leave the stadium once the main show had finished.

Should be selling Lucky Heather.
|
Told her to hop it didn't he?
|
I once interviewed him about marriage and asked him if he would ever go down on one knee again and to my surprise he said, "I'd prefer it if you called her Heather".
|
He was lucky with the divorce settlement.
She could have really taken him to the cleaners, if she'd had a leg to stand on....
|
He was brilliant as Onslow in Keeping up Appearances, driving that gloriously clapped-out Cortina that never actually let him down.
|
>> He was brilliant as Onslow in Keeping up Appearances
Saw a post elsewhere yesterday saying that he'd kicked the bouquet.
|
I was another big Onslow fan. What a great comedy character, and brilliantly played by Hughes.
A lazy, workshy slob, but remarkably erudite, and kind with it.
"Oh, NICE!" as he might have said.
R.I.P.
