I think that M&A is a strategy to be used sparingly.

I believe if you really focus the transaction on just the things you really care about you can create tremendous value in that space and not distract the rest of the organisation from its organic mission.

Mergers are great, and an excellent approach, if done when appropriate and executed properly.

However, that "if done when appropriate and executed properly" is a killer, because they're usually not.
