How are they meant to work? Do they all suddenly pop-up without warning at dusk, or are there flashing lights, and audible warnings for the deaf?
What happens if someone is parked or standing on it when it gets the call?

I assume they emerge in a similar way to the bollards that control access to certain bus lanes. The Lad found himself suddenly rising into the air when he inadvertently stood on one in Avignon.

If the moped riders focus was beyond the toilet and it started to rise it would only need to be a few cm proud of the road to throw him off. I also wonder if he'd ignored a prohibition to enter the area where the bog was - would expect it to be in a pedestrian area rather than the carriageway.
