Just seen on the news that Lance Percival has died, not heard of him recently, remember him well from childhood

I had Lance Percival in the back of the cab once. Or rather, he sat in the front seat of my Singer Vogue, then a Clapham minicab, like a decent fellow.

I recognised him and said I had enjoyed his TV work. Hearing my bourgeois, non-South London accent, he sent me up endearingly by addressing me as 'Sir'. Quite funny I thought.

We also lost Ray McFall at the age of 88, the man who owned the Cavern Club in Liverpool and paved the way for the success of the Beatles.

I saw him live on TW3 several times at TV Centre.
Always good value.
