Shaw Taylor, the presenter of ITV's Police 5, which ran for 30 years, has died at the age of 90.

No longer keeping 'em peeled.

Shaw Taylor, monochrome image and monochrome attitudes... I remember him well. 'Every citizen to be a copper's nark,' I used to think, being young and a bit silly in those days. Later I realised that sneaking to the beaks isn't always a bad thing to do.

Still is sometimes though. 'Saw this bloke using a mobile/eating a sandwich/lighting a cigarette/scratching his bum...' Faffing twits.

'Keep 'em on the road, not rolling about looking for miscreants and sinners.' That's my advice.
