 David Nobbs dies - Observer
He was 80, I realised with a shock.

I loved Reggie Perrin at the time; it seems dated now. He also wrote for a lot of other comedians and comedy programmes.

He was a patron of the British Humanist Association.

By one of those remarkable coincidences, it was only yesterday that I offered to lend a friend a copy of his book, Bit Of A Do, to read whilst on holiday. It therefore came as a shock to learn on the 7am Radio Two news bulletin that he had passed away. RIP.

Nobbs, Peter Tinniswood, Tom Sharpe, Roy Clarke and many others were wonderful writers in the field of comedy - it's not easy to make people laugh out loud just reading the written word.
