“My house is clean enough to be healthy… and dirty enough to be happyâ€.

Not Boadicea Perro. Mistress Quickly, Moll Cutpurse or another of those louche Shakespearean broads...
Tarts are different from queens (unless you spell it queans).
Thanks, Dog - best obit I've read for some time. I'd forgotten how prudish (and hypocritical) the authorities were not that long ago...
Cheers Bonington & Armel, I found her life very interesting too, in fact I'd like to have met the woman to ask if she had any free samples ;)
Heads up, Perro's on the Ponce. I'm sure she could have pulled something out of the bag for you me ol' mate. Knowlwotimean?
I'd truly liked to have met her Martine, she sounds a right character, and I've met more-than a few of those in my time ... most if not all here in Sunni Cornwall :o)

Good read, thanks.
Stories of tarts, bishops and policemen always make a good read. The image of Mr Plod going undercover and dressing the part but modestly keeping his helmet on is always good for a chuckle.
What was that movie?
"WHACK!"
"...and that's for the inland revenue!"
"How did you know I was a taxman?"
I don't think that Boadicea was English.
>>I don't think that Boadicea was English.
:-) Well spotted that man!
England didn't exist at that time, the tribe of Angles hadn't arrived, and wouldn't for a few hundred years either. She was however indigenous to the land of present East Anglia.
I think she was from the Icecreamy tribe.....or summat.
>>I think she was from the Icecreamy tribe
Indeedy. Nor folk apparently :(
But melted away in the heat of battle.
>> I think she was from the Icecreamy tribe
Probably. There were hundreds and thousands of them.
Just the 99 left after Suetonius caught up with them.
>> Just the 99 left after Suetonius caught up with them.
Did they go into battle blowing the cornet?
>> Just the 99 left after Suetonius caught up with them.
And before you ask, he was Neopolitan.

AKA by Boadicea as "Mr Whippy".

And those were pretty upset when they found out she'd been a wafer so long.

Why didn't the Romans use Walls against them?
Because they preferred to throw them to the Lyons.
This is all very flakey history.
>> Because they preferred to throw them to the Lyons.

That would have maid a difference.

Try that now and you'll get a rocket.
..or somebody will pull a Magnum....
Yes, we're all having a lolly good time.
It's all a bit rum, raisin' this subject now.
I sense a ripple of discontent.
you'll get some stick tubby.
Boudicea was found dead by the Romans.
She was covered in raspberry sauce, nuts and hundreds & thousands.
They think she topped herself.
The old ones are the best ones...
I can see this thread running till Sundae.

She was buried under Platform 10 at Kings Cross station, allegedly.
"The site of the battle is not given by either historian, although Tacitus gives a brief description.
A wide variety of sites, all consistent with an army attacking from the area of London toward the Roman forces concentrating from the direction of Cornwall and Wales, has been suggested.
One legend places it at Battle Bridge Road in King's Cross, London, although from reading Tacitus it is unlikely Suetonius returned to the city"

Who, Cynthia Payne?
Talking of frightening Englishwomen, I was riveted by Tory MP Anna Soubry who appeared last night on one of the channels.
Obviously the lady is very capable, but she also has the authentic, chicken-like look of one with limited intellect. Misleading no doubt.
Here's a great English woman, her biography was recommended to me by my 'esteemed Plymouth friend'.

In a Y shaped coffin apparently ;)
