Any domestic gods/goddesses on here who can recommend something to clean a stainless steel cooker ? It looks blotchy and streaky and nothing I have tried on it seems to make any difference. Thanks.

Olive oil - no need for chemicals. Ut was the domestic god Zero that answered this question - not looked back....only in anger.

Oh ok, fair enough. But couldn't you borrow one from a friend now and then? They're really very good at things like that I've found. Less so at keeping cars clean, but kitchens, like operating theatres once a wife has been at them.

Think yerself lucky. Mrs HM was a chef in a previous life, excellent cook but seems to think she still has kitchen porters around to clear up after her.

Dishwasher powder, on a damp cloth, applied in small circles.

It all depends on the nature of the stain. Applying something like olive oil will make the stain less obvious but won't remove it.
Here's what the makers of the stuff say.

>>Baby oil?
+1 .. The missus uses it. She uses it on stainless steel too.

Baby oil
Happiness is whips, chains, baby oil and warm custard...
And yes, I have it on a T shirt.

Speak to your local DeLorean dealership.

HG makes some specific SS cleaning products. I used to sell them and they had very positive feedback from catering establishments who had large cookers.
Johnsons baby oil is xcellent for maintaining the shine of SS. When I extended my gaff I had a very modern glass & SS staircase put in and the installer recommended its use. A quick monthly rub down with oil has kept it perfect .
And the staircase is still just like new also.

The HG steel polish, not the Quick Shine or spray, is the stuff I use on my cooker range. As do several other folks I know.

Nip down to your local farm, ask friendly farmer for a "hand-full" of his Bulk Milk Tank cleaning powder. That stuff is good, if it can shift Milk-Stole it'll shift anything, plus it's food rated.

Thanks everyone - that's quite a range of options to try - including borrowing somebody's wife to do it ! :-)

Thanks from here too. Replaced an enamel AEG hob with Bosch stainless item last year. Kitchen cleaner shifts spills etc but surface marks/stains in way that makes stainless look like a fib.
Reluctant to try anything like 'Astonish' as it's abrasive.

....and from a woman who knows
Baby Oil :)
